To accelerate breeding improvements of crops such as barley, the agricultural crop breeding company Nordic Seed recently opened its brand-new indoor research facility, which has a full line installment from Senmatic. Nordic Seed expects to speed its early stages of the crop breeding process from 3-4 years to just 1 year.

Roses are red, violets are blue, it is said. But other plants can benefit from red and blue colours as well. Blue and red LED light have proven particularly effective when it comes to speeding production times and optimizing plants, a study on Osteospermum carried out by DGT by Senmatic and a Danish nursery shows.

Installing LED grow lights turned out to be a smart decision for Dutch-based Rainbow Colors. In just two years, the company has increased production by 50% and cut energy use by 25% – while the quality of their tulips improved significantly.
